Windsor CSD Begins Two-Day Kindergarten Camp

Windsor’s three elementary schools began their two-day Kindergarten Camp on Monday to help make sure the youngest Black Knights are ready to go once the school year begins.
The goal of the camps is to familiarize children with their classroom and other areas of the school, like the cafeteria and playground, before the school year begins.

“Some of the students have come through our 3pk and 4pk so they’re familiar, but some are new and so it helps ease the worries and have them not feel so overwhelmed on the first day,” said Bell Elementary kindergarten teacher Randi Silvernail. “Some came in today with some worries, some tears, and clinging to their families, but within five to 10 minutes they’re all smiling making new friends. When they come here on their first day, they know where to go, where to put their backpacks, all the things that can seem really big.”

During the camp, students rotated through stations to learn, play, and commit to being a Black Knight.

“I’m glad the district lets us do this because it takes the worry from them and us. We’re all familiar faces when school starts,” said Silvernail.
