Windsor CSD Summer Program Recap - July 16
The second week of the Windsor CSD 2026 summer program concluded on Thursday.
Knight Lights STEM students learned about storing potential energy and transferring it to kinetic energy by building catapults.
5th- and 6th-grade students continued studying accessibility. They took the lessons they learned about accessible spaces during tours of Palmer Elementary/Windsor Central Middle School to build their own perfect schools, using Play Doh, Magna Blocks, and Legos.
BAE software engineer and Windsor Central High School (’19) graduate Austin Kibbler spoke to students about his job and asked students about what they know about engineering and problem solving.
“I’m trying to quiz their brain on the fun stuff,” said Kibbler.
Middle school students in the Windsor Strong Academy displayed their castles and catapults and held a catapult Olympics. They tested their catapult’s performance based on accuracy and distance.
They also held a castle design contest based on creativity, appearance, teamwork, and engineering. Students then held a kingdom battle when each kingdom tried to destroy another kingdom’s castle.
Tennis, track and field, and swimming and diving camps took place indoors due to the poor outdoor air quality.
Tennis players practiced lobs, serves, and footwork drills.
Swimming and diving campers reviewed freestyle strokes and learned the backstroke.
Track athletes split into three groups: 400-meter distance, sprints, and hurdles.
Next week’s sports camps will be softball, baseball, and lacrosse.
