Windsor CSD Summer Program Recap - July 13

Posted Date: 07/14/26 (10:18 AM)

The second week of the Windsor CSD 2026 summer program began on Monday.
Children enthusiastically mix ingredients in a large bowl under a tent.
Knight Lights elementary camp rotated students through stations focusing on gross motor skills, fine arts, STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math), and literacy and numeracy.

On Monday, students finished building and painting birdhouses. Before building, students learned about different species of birds. Campers also made chemical mixtures to mimic the consistency of solids, liquids, and gases. This included making sensory dough for students to determine if it had the properties of liquids or solids.

Middle school students in the Windsor Strong Academy started building their castles. This week, they will build castles and catapults and hold a catapult Olympics. They will use the catapults during a kingdom battle when each kingdom tries to destroy another kingdom’s castle.

Tennis, track and field, and swimming and diving camps began on Monday. Tennis players split into groups by age (8-9, 10-11, 12-13). They worked on drills that taught racket skills, footwork, and stretching.

Track campers worked on block starts, long jump, and the shot put. Swimmers and divers took a swim test on Monday. Due to the forecast of excessive heat, the sports camps are cancelled for Tuesday, July 14.

All other Windsor CSD summer programming, including Knight Lights and Windsor Strong Academy, will take place as scheduled on Tuesday. The sports camps are scheduled to resume on Wednesday, July 15.
