Posted Date: 03/02/26 (12:03 PM)

Students and staff at Bell and Palmer Elementary Schools recognized Rare Disease Day on Friday, February 27, joining schools and communities around the world in raising awareness for the millions of people living with rare diseases.
Observed annually on the last day of February, Rare Disease Day is dedicated to increasing understanding, building empathy, and advocating for equality in healthcare and support services. This year, Bell and Palmer Elementary Schools proudly participated with a day full of meaningful activities designed to educate students and celebrate inclusion.

Rare Disease Day has been observed globally since 2008 and continues to grow each year, shining a light on the challenges faced by the rare disease community while celebrating their strength and resilience.

“By participating in Rare Disease Day, Bell and Palmer Elementary Schools demonstrated their commitment to fostering a culture of awareness, acceptance, and support — not just on one day, but every day. ‘Rare means something doesn’t happen very often. Rare can be unique and beautiful,’” said Bell Elementary teacher Colleen Patch.
