Windsor CSD Summer Program Update - July 28
The final week of Windsor Strong Academy and Knight Lights began on Monday.
Windsor Strong Academy campers are creating a newscast reporting on what they’ve learned this summer. They spent Monday researching and selecting roles, as well as planning the broadcast. The campers will unveil their broadcast on Thursday.
Jeremy Donovan, a former news anchor and reporter and current Multimedia Coordinator at Binghamton University, explained what goes into a newscast and offered production tips to the teams as they planned their newscasts. This week’s theme at Knight Lights is, “Let’s help others.” A Broome County Sheriff’s deputy and his K9 officer presented to the students. The K9 found a mock explosive and other evidence buried under pinecones.
Students also made homemade ice cream as their STEM activity, using ice, rock salt, and other ingredients to shake up their ice cream in a plastic bag.
Golf, football, and soccer camps began on Monday
Golfers worked in stations on their grip, swing, chipping around the green, etiquette around the green, putting, and using their irons.
Football camp held its combine day, with a 40-yard dash, a 5-10-5 agility drill, standing long jump, and push-up and sit-up stations. Players also practiced blocking, catching, and handoffs.
Soccer campers spent Monday getting comfortable with the ball, working on technical touches, passing, and dribbling.
