Donation With A Heart

The American Heart Association presented Windsor Central High School with a CPR-in-school kit donated by Visions Federal Credit Union Friday. The all-in-one kit contains everything needed to facilitate CPR in Schools training for 10-20 students at once. The process can be repeated to train an entire class, grade, or school. One kit can train hundreds of students.
“Providing a simple 1-2-3 process kids can learn gives their loved ones a chance to survive before emergency help arrives,” said WCHS
physical education teacher Jeff Nolan. “It’s legitimate life-saving skills.”

The kit includes 10 inflatable mannequins and 10 AED training simulators. The school will use these kits to continue offering hands-only CPR training in high school physical education classes as part of the school curriculum.

“Now, we’re going to be able to give kids partners and give them feedback a lot sooner instead of having them have to wait their turn,” said Nolan.

“You have double the chance to save someone’s life with hands-only CPR but we can’t develop the next generation of help without the equipment. The power to save a life is literally in our hands so if we can introduce this to kids so that it’s second nature they can step in when someone needs help,” said Jami Wood, Director of Development for the American Heart Association.

In addition to funding the donation, Visions also presented the American Heart Association a check for $10,000 for the organization’s upcoming Heart Walk.

“It’s amazing how much our schools are hubs in our community. People need them not only for education, but also resources. These kids here can literally save lives,” said Jocelyn Bailey, Community Development Liaison at Visions Federal Credit Union.
